We were fortunate in being able to work alongside a fantastically talented group of Motorola Life Science engineers developing a “Bio-Jet” tool, which accurately dispensed tiny chemical droplets on microscope slides. ISI was tasked with the Electrical and Pneumatic sub-systems, as well as some Mechanical Design (slide trays) and custom printed circuit boards for the Dispensing sub-system. In addition, ISI coordinated the component procurement, assembly, and test of each of these 5000 pound units (heavy granite to dampen the rapid X-Y-Z axis movements of the linear slides). These tools (1999-2002) were state of the art as the BioSciences effort gained momentum.
